Healthy weight range · Asian-Indian scale
52.0–64.4kg
At 5'6" (167.6 cm), the healthy weight range on the Asian-Indian scale is 52.0 kg to 64.4 kg — BMI 18.5 to 22.9. Overweight begins at 64.6 kg and the obese action point is 77.3 kg. It is a window, not a target: every kilogram inside it is a defensible place for a body to sit.
On the standard WHO scale the same height gives a healthy range up to 70.0 kg, with overweight from 70.3 kg and obesity from 84.3 kg.

Why this site reads 23 and not 25 — the full argument, with the 2004 consultation quoted →
At 5'6", the outlined window is the healthy range on the Asian-Indian scale: 52.0 – 64.4 kg. The shaded columns are where the two rulebooks return different verdicts for the same body — 64.6 to 70.3 kg ಮತ್ತು 77.3 to 84.3 kg at this height.

How the Asian-Indian reading is derived
- Height is converted to metres. 167.6 cm becomes 1.6764 m.
- BMI is weight in kilograms divided by height in metres squared. The formula contains no sex, age or ethnicity term.
- The result is read against two published band sets. The Asian-Indian action points (23.0 and 27.5) come from the WHO expert consultation for Asian populations; the international classification (25 and 30) was deliberately retained by the same consultation.
- Healthy weight is reported as a range, never a single figure: the BMI 18.5 and 22.9 bounds are each multiplied by height squared.
- Where the two band sets return different verdicts, the gap is shaded in the diagram and stated in kilograms rather than left implied.
healthy weight = 18.5 x (1.68)^2 ... 22.9 x (1.68)^2 = 52.0 kg ... 64.4 kg
